Wool week 2019

Wool week by Campaign for Wool is now in its tenth year! This annual event looks to: “educate, inspire and promote the benefits of wool” through different exhibitions and events with a great mix of brands being involved.

At Jag we are super conscious of using natural raw materials like wool so that we provide the highest quality designs and constructed garments but also so we can eliminate any plastic or micro-fibre pollution. Wool has so many amazing benefits, whether it is ecological or performance qualities, this is why so many fashion and interior brands are using this in innovative ways throughout their collections.

To celebrate Wool Week, renowned Scottish Knitwear brand, Brora have released a limited edition jumper that was designed by Jasmine Cook, who is a student at Duncan of Jordanstone College of art and Design, University of Dundee, where I studied myself and am currently the Knit and textiles designer in residence so this is really exciting to see design talent in Dundee like this getting recognised.

Wool is a soft, renewable, natural fibre that is produced every year from a sheep’s new fleece and also naturally decomposes, making it very sustainable. Wool also has antibacterial properties and so does not need regular washing and can be aired between washes keeping the garment smelling fresh!

If you look after your wool well, it will last you season after season.
