Hearts appeal for Ninewells hospital

I’d seen a post on Facebook from a nurse at Ninewells hopsital in Dundee. She was appealing for anyone that can knit or crochet to make love hearts for the ICU ward. The hearts were to be made in a pair and one would go to the patient suffering from Covid-19 and then the other to the family that couldn’t physically be with their loved one, creating a loving bond between them and comfort.

As I already had a pattern from the heart keyrings I make, I was able to quickly adapt it and start making! Using materials i already had I made 26 crochet hearts in a range of bright, positive colours with some sporting our classic colour twists. When posting on Social media regarding the appeal, a nurse that was working on the ICU wards in Ninewells got in touch and offered to pick them up as she could drop them straight into the ward. It’s amazing to see people’s generosity when they themselves are working so hard on the front line. So thankful for all our key workers keeping this country going!

I’m so grateful that i could help in this way and hopefully make something that manged to bring some love and comfort to those affected. Anyone can still get involved by following the below:

❤️❤️The only stipulations are that the heart pairs are roughly 7x7cms in size, of matching colour (no black please) and pattern and that they are left in a sealed zip lock bag, with the DATE AND TIME SEALED on them, for 72 hours at least, before posting. This is to allow for the virus to become inactive. ❤️❤️

Please send your hearts to:
